How to book a flight with Engine

Start Your Search:

1. In the search bar at the top of your dashboard, click Flights.

2. Select whether you want to book a round-trip, one-way or multi-city flight. 

3. Enter your departure location, destination, travel dates, the number of travelers, and your preferences for non-stop flights and cabin types.

4. Click Search flights to see flights that match your criteria.

Filter and Sort Your Results:

1. Use our specialized filters to sort your results by:

   1. Cheapest

   2. Fastest

   3. Earliest departure

   4. Latest departure

   5. Earliest arrival

   6. Latest arrival 

2. Refine your results by:

   1. Number of stops

   2. In-policy options only

   3. Price range

   4. Airline preference

   5. Cabin class

   6. Duration

   7. Take off and landing times

   8. And more!

Select Your Flight and Fare:

1. Choose the flight and fare that best suits your needs.

2. Baggage Information: Each fare clearly states the number of included carry-on and checked bags. If you need additional bags, you can purchase them directly through the airline.

Input Traveler and Loyalty Program Information:

1. Add essential details for each traveler, including:

   1. Name

   2. Email

   3. Phone number

   4. Employee ID (optional)

   5. Gender

   6. Date of birth

   7. TSA Precheck information (optional)

   8. Redress number (optional)

   9. Passport information (optional)

   10. Loyalty Airline rewards (optional) for programs like Delta SkyMiles, United MileagePlus, Southwest Rapid Rewards and many more! Engine supports loyalty pass-through rewards. See our Loyalty Pass-through Rewards article for additional details. 

Seat Selection:

1. If your ticket fare includes a seat, you can make your selection. If not, you can contact the airline directly to purchase a specific seat.

Complete Your Booking:

1. Fill in any custom fields required.

2. Add your payment information.

3. Click Complete booking to confirm and lock in your reservation!

1. You can book flights on over 250 airlines, including all major US airlines like American, Delta, United, Alaska, Spirit, Frontier, Jetblue, Southwest, and Hawaiian.

1. Seat selection is available for certain airlines on the checkout page. If seat selection isn't available, you can contact the airline directly after booking to discuss seat options.

1. Yes! If you booked through Engine, you can change your flight's date, time, or airports - either in the app or by contacting Member Support
   1. Note: Flights on ultra low-cost carries like Frontier and Spirit must be changed directly with the airline. All other carriers can be changed through Engine.

1. No, the booking fee is not refundable, even if your trip is refundable.

1. Engine follows the airline's refund policy. The airline and fare you purchased will determine the cancellation policy and refund method.

1. Yes! You can earn points through airline loyalty programs when booking flights on Engine. Just add your program number at checkout, and we will pass that information along to the airline.

1. Airlines may issue flight credits for canceled or changed flights, which will appear in your itinerary. If it's a refundable fare, you'll receive a refund to your original payment method.
2. Please note: Airline travel credits cannot be redeemed on our platform; they must be redeemed directly through the airline’s website.

1. Currently, you can only earn Engine Rewards from Hotel bookings. Once earned, Engine Rewards points can be spent on any type of travel on our platform including Flights and Rental Cars. Additionally, you can earn points and miles through airline loyalty programs. 

1. Airlines typically reserve credit card benefits, such as two free bags, for flights booked directly with them. When booking flights on Engine, you'll still earn points and miles through airline loyalty programs and receive any perks associated with your airline status.

1. Absolutely! With Travel Policies, you can set the available fare types and the maximum total price employees can spend under that policy.

1. Yes! If you're enrolled in Direct Bill, flights can be booked using your company’s Direct Bill line of credit, simplifying billing and reconciliation across all travel types. If you need to increase your credit limit to book flights, please reach out to your account manager.
