Engine is committed to ensuring the safety of your employees during business travel. Our Duty of Care solution gives your travel managers and travelers real-time visibility into global safety events directly within the Engine booking platform.

With Duty of Care, your organization can instantly see which travelers may be affected by events like weather disruptions, political unrest, transit issues, or emergencies—all without relying on external tools. Safety alerts are tied directly to active and upcoming trips, helping your teams respond faster, make informed decisions, and support employees wherever they are.

Engine's integrated Duty of Care experience brings safety and trip impact visibility into a single tool for travel management.

  • Real-Time Safety Alerts: Powered by International SOS (iSOS), alerts are displayed instantly and tied to active and upcoming bookings, covering incidents like weather, political unrest, and emergencies.

  • Severity Indicators: Alerts are color-coded (High, Medium, Low) for quick prioritization of risks.

  • Centralized Safety Page: A dedicated view for Admins and Travelers to monitor all alerts, filter by severity, traveler, and region, and manage alert status (including Mute/Unmute functionality).

  • Alert Visibility Across the Platform: Safety alert severity indicators and details are visible in your Trips list, the Itinerary Panel, and the dedicated Safety Page.

    • Travelers only see alerts relevant to their own trips.

    • Admins see all alerts tied to the organization's trips.

  • Safety Detail Panel: Provides important details like risk level, a map, and a list of impacted travelers/bookings.

  • Full Admin Control: Admins can easily activate, deactivate, or configure alert settings to match your organization's policy.

 


Note: Duty of Care is OFF by default.

  1. Admin Opt-In: An Admin must navigate to the new Safety Tab within Trips in Engine and explicitly turn on Duty of Care.

  2. Immediate Effect: Once activated, Engine will immediately begin displaying real-time iSOS alerts tied to the organization’s active and upcoming trips.

  3. Full Admin Control: Admins can turn the feature OFF at any time.

 


  1. Is this a paid feature?

    1. No, Duty of Care is currently free for all eligible, opted-in Engine customers. 

  2. Where do these alerts come from?

    1. They come from our third-party provider, International SOS (iSOS), a world-leading medical and travel security services provider.

  3. Why don't I see any alerts?

    1. Duty of Care must be activated by an Admin. Please ensure your Admin has opted in via the new Safety tab.

  4. Which users can see the alerts?

    1. Admins see all alerts for the organization. Travelers only see alerts relevant to their own active and upcoming trips.

  5. Can I turn off or "mute" an alert?

    1. Yes, alerts can be muted via the Itinerary Panel or the dedicated Safety Page.

  6. How do I get an email when a new alert is issued?

    1. Customizable email, in-product, and push notifications will be available soon and can be configured to ensure admins and travelers are immediately aware of critical incidents.

  7. Can I use this in the Engine mobile app?

    1. Not yet. Native mobile app support for Duty of Care will launch in early Q1. Please use the web platform to view alerts for now.
